This question concerns section 3, table 1 of the paper Quality Metrics for Practical Face Recognition. The description for table 1 ends with:

wiwi is the Gaussian weight of the ithith region
What does Gaussian weight refer to here?

Is it Gaussian kernel weight? I am trying to calculate illumination according to the linked paper, but the equation is not clear to me.

Also what is the reference image? What do we mean by an Ideal Image (reference image)?https://projet.liris.cnrs.fr/imagine/pub/proceedings/ICPR-2012/media/files/0454.pdf

    Dear Azize,

I think you posted in the wrong forum. This forum is dedicated to Icy Software, but our team is not related to the paper you are citing (which deal about complete different topic than Icy / Bio Image Analysis). You may try to directly reach the authors of this paper.

    Best,
