Found a solution, which is to include the components update (jComboBox and graphics creation) into another thread, from SwingUtilities (javax.swing.SwingUtilities):
SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
public void run() {
createAndShowGUI();
}
});
No more bug and warnings then…
